The market of Third Party Logistics followed an upward trend in the past two years (2016-2017), after years of continuous decline. In particular, in 2017 the market value increased by 3.5% compared to 2016. A further rise is estimated for 2018 (approximately 2.5%).
Storage & warehousing services (including cold-storage as well) and distribution services jointly accounted for approximately 93% of the overall value of 3PL services in 2017.
As regards the breakdown of the market per product category, foods and drinks gained the lion’s share with approximately 41% in 2017. "Vehicles and spare parts", "electronic equipment and related supplies", "medicines, parapharmaceuticals and medical equipment" followed with 9% each. Other consumer products (personal hygiene products etc.) rank 5th with a share of 7%. "Clothing and footwear", "industrial products & raw material" and "furniture and household equipment" had a share of 6% each. Tobacco products / cigarettes accounted for 4%, in 2017.
