Private construction activity in Greece was sharply declining in the period 2010-2016, recording a cumulative decline of 72% (in volume). There was a recovery from 2017 onwards, registering an increase of 9.8% (in volume) in 2019 compared to 2018.
The total domestic production of sanitary ware is at low levels and is estimated to increase by 3.8% in 2019 compared to 2018.
The domestic market (consumption) of sanitary ware is recovering in recent years, and in 2019 the market size is estimated to have increased by 3.8% compared to 2018. Demand is mainly covered by imports while exports are relatively low.
In 2019, porcelain sanitary ware accounted for 70% of the total domestic consumption in value, acrylic sanitary ware accounted for 25.8%, while metal sanitary ware is estimated to have accounted for the remaining 4.2%.
For 2020, a significant decline in the value of the domestic market is estimated.
