The sector of multimedia and mobile telephony store chains consists of chain operators, which operate in the sectors of information technology, telecommunications and the retail distribution of electrical and electronic home appliances. IT store chains address both the "household" market, covering applications related to entertainment, information and education, as well as small businesses providing services and products of computerization and office automation (Small Office - Home Office).
The demand continued declining until the middle of the last decade which has led to a contraction and restructuring of the multimedia and mobile retail sector. However, in recent years it has shown signs of recovery.
The total domestic retail market of multimedia and mobile telephony (through chain stores) has recorded a recovery from 2016 onwards and is estimated to increase by 5.3% in 2020 compared to 2019.
In Greece, it is estimated that in 2020 there were about 100 online stores with high monthly traffic.
