The average annual production of olives has registered a significant rise of 57.7% over the last six years. The domestic production of table olives dropped by 23.8% during 2018/19 compared to previous period.
The amount of imported table olives is rather low. Exports of table olives have registered a rise over time accounting for an average of 79% of the total domestic production over the last six years. Regarding the countries of destination, the USA, Germany and Italy jointly accounted for 42.6% of exports of "prepared - preserved" olives in 2019.
The domestic table olive consumption has been stable in recent years as there are no significant changes. The majority of table olives consumed in the domestic market is sold in bulk.
