The domestic market of biscuits is characterized by fierce competition, as few companies operate in production.
The apparent domestic consumption of cookies registered an average annual growth rate of 1% during 2010-2018 and slightly increased in 2018 compared to 2017.
The domestic production covers the largest part of the market. The intrusion of imports amounted to approximately 19% in 2018, while exports accounted for 26% of domestic production.
The demand for packaged croissants is exclusively covered by domestic production which increased by 2.2% in 2018 compared to the previous year.
The apparent domestic consumption of croissants registered a rise of 1.7% in 2018 compared to 2017.

The apparent domestic consumption of salty snacks has reported slight fluctuations and registered a marginal rise in 2018 compared to 2017. Import penetration is estimated at approximately 30% for 2018, while export performance reached approximately 21%.
