Currently 46 audit firms operate in the sector of audit services in Greece, while legitimate (statutory) auditors amount to 1,095. Several small and medium sized audit firms have been established in the last 4 years.
Total revenues of all audit companies decreased by 5.9% in 2014 vs 2013, whereas they were on the rise during 2012-2013 (part of those revenues relate to sales abroad).
Revenues from statutory audit services are estimated to cover approximately 72% of the total sales in 2014. Revenues from other audits and services provided accounted for the remaining 28%. Those sales refer to revenues emerging from optional controls, tax audits, accounting services, other auditing work, as well as revenues from non-audit work (e.g. revenues from liquidations and court proceedings, conversion-merger-absorption, seminars, etc.).
